I had lost my Boston a few months earlier. Thanks to Glenn and Gerri Wilson and Boston Terrier Rescue for bringing Sebastian into my life. Sebastian now lives in Puyallup. He spends almost every minute with me. He loves going in the car and we go everywhere together. A close friend, who is very ill, has also become very attached to Sebastian and finds great comfort in his company. Besides all of the normal fun Boston Terrier things to do, Sebastian’s favorite play toy is the mirror. He loves to play with himself in the full length mirror. He’ll run around the corner, bark, run away, run back to the mirror, bark, etc. He’s a perfect fit! Bill Bauden ![]()
Rocky's favorite thing's to do are play with Maggie Mae, our female Boston, and chase squirrels. Rocky thinks he is a Rottwieler in a Boston Terrier body. We love him very much. Thank you very much ! Michael & Wendy McCurley ![]()
After a 3 hour trip from Whidbey Island to Vashon Island, the prospective new owners got to meet Jack, Dani, and their people. It was meant to be that afternoon. An immediate peace was with everyone that this was a decision that would make several dogs lives better. Two weeks later, the families met at a park and said goodbye, took pictures and shed a few tears. The older dogs are now doing much better, and Jack and Dani are enjoying their new backyard, and adapting to their new home. ![]() Chester was fearful at first but we introduced him slowly to our other little dogs. The first day Chester marked just about everything in our house and he even pooped once (we followed along and cleaned up after him). Since then he has not made one mess, has learned to go into his crate to sleep at night and loves to cuddle. We are the 4th home Chester has had in his short 5 years of life and after having him for a week, or so, we just couldn’t place him with someone else and let him go through the trauma of another change – so he now joins his new sisters and brother Lucy, Dottie and L.G. ![]() ![]() Duke couldn't possibly be loved anymore. He has fit right into our family and is very spoiled. He sleeps either with one of the kids or in his bed next to ours every night. If he's in our room, he ends up under the covers and at the bottom of our bed by 4:30 every morning. He's the only dog I know that I have to carry downstairs to go for a walk every morning. I think he could literally sleep all day if we'd let him. But once we're outside, he's happy to go on our walk. He goes everywhere with us in the car and on our long road trips has enjoyed being in his bed in the seat between the kids, as you can see in the attached pictures. He's only chewed a couple of my daughter's little dollies that she's left lying around (and there are plenty of them). Other than that, he has his Kong, Nylabones, and other things he loves to chew on. The kids couldn't have asked for a better playmate. He is constantly chasing them around the house - up and down the stairs. We're excited to take him on his first camping trip with us this weekend. I'm sure as long as there's a sleeping bag to crawl in, he'll enjoy it. :) Thank you for doing such a wonderful job with him before we got him. He’s very well behaved, which has made the transition even easier. We're so happy to have him. He'll have a great life with our family. The Barker Family ![]() We've now had him for 90 days and it looks like he's settled into our home. He now plays with our Boston, Lucy, teases our Toy Fox Terrier, jumps on my chair and loves to cuddle. In addition we're feeding him "deter" to stop the bad eating habits. He isn't yet housebroken but at least he has stopped marking everything in sight. He sleeps in his crate at night and when we go out and he's going to obedience school. He's very laid back, and like most Bostons he is very smart, but also very stubborn. ![]() Zoey’s skin is so much better than when we first met. She's on a good diet and enjoys her meals. She loves to wear shirts and of course we love buying them for her. She also gets along really well with our two kitties. Thank goodness! Zoey is a wonderful, comical girl, full of spirit and personality. She makes us laugh at just about everything she does. Her current "sister" is a SPDR large Yorkie "Sugar". We knew that having two females, especially these breeds, could be a challenge. We couldn't say no, it was love at first sight and we knew we could help her have a happy life. Having only one eye makes it more difficult for Zoey, but she is a trooper. The hardest time is when she runs into Sugar on her blind side during playtime. So, we closely supervise so no one's feelings are hurt. We're not really sure how she lost her eye. That was in her past life. Zoey is very friendly and takes to everyone she meets. She loves her squeaky and fire hose toys. She snores and loves to sleep the whole night through under the covers. Imagine that! She loves to sleep on our beloved Katie's bed in front of the fireplace. Katie was our wonderful Lab who passed in September 2007. I'm convinced that Zoey must have some of Katie's spirit in her. She just can't get enough of the fireplace. Zoey loves her walks everyday and gets so excited when we get ready to head out. There are so many smells to take in! Bostons are definitely a wonderful breed and once you have had one we can see why you'd want another. We love Zoey very much and she will have a forever home with us. The Blain Family ![]() Boscoe loves people, and loves to give all newcomers a little welcome dance and kisses! He sleeps on my bed wrapped in his blanket. I have to check on him at night, because he "cocoons" down inside the blanket and I can barely see him. But he snores, so I know he's fast asleep. Boscoe wants to be in on any family action at all times. If I'm hugging one of my twins in the recliner, he feels free to leap right up into our laps, and join in the hugging. His doggy smell was very strong at first. But we hardly notice it anymore. :) He has the most unusual amber-colored eyes. He gets down on his haunches with a mischievous grin, when he wants to play. We thank the good Lord for our wonderful new furry buddy, Boscoe. The Woodbrook Family ![]() Gomez graduated from his obedience class after eight weeks. He has adjusted rather well and the class helped him understand basic commands like sit, stay, heel, etc. Gomez is a "clock" with a dog’s body. At 3:30 pm he finds his rope and wants to play. This seems to be an everyday occurrence. Gomez likes to sleep under the covers and usually can be found under a blanket or two. However, his favorite thing right now is "go for ride." He now knows that the coffee shop drive thru has doggie treats and tends to whine if we don't stop for that morning cup. Gomez is a great dog. I certainly appreciated Geri for finding this dog for the family. Sadly, we lost one family member but gained one within the same week. Thanks so much for all you do. Gomez also says "thank you." ![]() That winter and spring were rough. I grew sicker and sicker from my horrendous colitis. It became clear one grim day in May that I very possibly could die. I had just turned two and I was dying. Thanks to the miracle of incredible doctors and tremendously powerful medicines I recovered! During the ordeal, my foster parents and I bonded deeply. I became their boy, not just because I was so sick and not adoptable, but simply because the love is so strong. I am robust and stable now. I will always suffer from colitis and my condition is guarded at best. I could die from this, but we take one day at a time and enjoy life to the fullest. I am the happiest boy in the world and I know my mom and dad are pretty happy too! I can tell by all the smothering hugs and kisses which I eat up! ![]() ![]() ![]() Beau's favorite thing to do is chase squirrels and the neighborhood cats around our backyard. His second favorite thing to do is to steal whatever toy his big brother, Cujo, has and then play keep-a-way. Beau makes me smile because he is a snuggle bunny and will curl up in my arms like a little baby and fall fast asleep. ![]() ![]() What a pup this young fellow is and I feel blessed to be his care giver. Being young, he is full of pep and vigor but also likes his quiet snuggle time. He acts like he has been here his entire life. Some of his favorite things to do are to entertain me, go in and out of the doggie door many times a day. He regularly empties his toy box, scattering his toys all over. Some days he takes all of his toys outside and then brings them back the same day. He gets plenty of exercise by running up and down the fence with the collie pup next door, he makes sure that none of his toys get close to the fence. When the collie is let out he barks and Lucky runs out to run with him. Lucky is a wonderful pet and companion, he minds well, knows several tricks and is quick to learn new ones. He is a little pushy at night as he wants my side of the bed, but we will settle this soon too. All-in-all one would be hard pressed to find a more lovable, super, great dog. ![]() Zoey is two and a half and loves to play fetch and chew up her toys. She stays very busy during the day checking on all the other animals in the neigborhood, squirrels, cats and dogs. She'll run in circles around the house from window to window barking at anything on the street. She is an excellent little watch dog. She'll never replace our love for Mugsy but we will continue to love and nourish her just as much. She is a very sweet little girl with a personality all her own. She's there at the door every afternoon to greet me when I get home from work and she's always happy to see me. What a great feeling. A special thanks to Geri and the Ross family for letting us adopt Zoey. Linda & Richard ![]() ![]() IVEY & ROSIE were abandoned at a truck stop in southern WA. Rosie was 8 or 9 and Ivey was about 6 years old. These two girls were very attached. Rosie was missing a few teeth and could not quite keep her tongue in her mouth. She loves to run, roll in the grass, and romp in the back yard. Ivey looks tough with her white face and notches in her ears - but is tender of heart and dotes on Rosie. The girls were able to stay together and both live in Edmonds, WA with a Boston loving couple. ![]() Today, Mamma lives in Burien, WA with a Boston loving family. She even has a Boston sister! You will find her following her new mom's every move, snuggling. . . wanting all the love and rubs she can get, and traveling with her family. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BENNY found his forever home with an energetic young couple in Seattle. They were thrilled that he was a larger dog and that he loved to chase balls. They were hoping to get him interested in Flyby or Agility. . ![]() We have found a loving home in Woodinville, WA. We love to sit cuddled in our new masters lap, we have a large back yard to explore, and a new, older, Boston sister named Katie. ![]() DAISY was a seven month old sweetheart. Her former family loved her very much, but couldn't control her wetting and chewing. We knew it was going to take a very devoted home to help Daisy change her ways. We found just that home! We found a family with two children and a Boston Terrier too. Daisy now lives in Enumclaw. She has a Boston sister and is going to be a 4H Dog Project. She will learn all her manners and have fun doing ![]() TOBY came into rescue just before his third birthday. He was purchased as a puppy by an elderly woman in Florida. In a short time she became ill and passed. Toby was cared for by her friends and then shipped to family members in WA. He didn’t seem to fit in anywhere. He was frightened and growled and snarled at everyone and everything! Today, Toby is a happy dog! He loves to play tug-o-war, sleep in the sunshine, and take long walks. He also likes riding in the car, doing tricks for his treats, and did I mention . . . playing tug-o-war! Toby will soon be four years old. In this short time he has graduated from his obedience class, he can be around a group of people and their dogs and be a gentleman, and live in a home with dogs and people coming and going all the time. Toby is a perfect fit with our family. ![]() TUCKER was a 22 pound, 1 1/2 year old boy. He was found running the streets of Snohomish county. A very nice woman caught him and held him for a week. She put up posters, ran a newspaper add, and contacted shelters. No one clamed this handsome young man. We were contacted to help place him. Tucker is now living in the lap of luxury. He lives in Tacoma with a young professional woman. He gets to go to doggie daycare and has a new orange sweater. You might see him jogging through the streets of Tacoma with his new owner. ![]() MUGSY 2 was surrendered by a family who could no longer keep him. He is 8 years old and weighs about 16 pounds. He is black and white with a very curly tail. Mugsy is very loving and affectionate. He loves to go for walks, rides in the car, and snuggle with his favorite person. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. He is totally housetrained. He was placed in an adults only home and is very happy. ![]() MUGSY is a 25 pound, 1 1/2 year old red Boston Terrier. His guardian Angels were looking over him when a woman was able to talk his owner into releasing him to her instead of putting him to sleep, because he was always sick. She them turned Mugsy over to BTCWW members who surrendered him to BTRWW. As it turned out he had three different infections and an inverted tail. Yes, Mugsy's guardian Angles were watching over him. He recovered from his infections and tail surgery. His forever home is with a wonderful couple in Silverdale, WA. ![]() Jane is now 8 years old. She was returned to rescue because her family could no longer care for her. She still has personality plus. Jane also has a few health issues. She needed her teeth cleaned and had 5 teeth pulled. She also has cataracts in both eyes and is awaiting tests to see if surgery will be possible to remove the cataracts. In her new home she has a Boston brother and sister. She loves to show us her toys and cuddle on the couch. The very best part of her day are the walks that we take on our local trail. She is such a strong walker and we chuckle and comment that she would be a great "lead dog" on an Iditarod dog sled team. SHE IS IN HER FOREVER HOME! ![]() This is Derby! He is a charming 10 month old Boston and he is thriving in his new home. Incredibly, this is Derby's third home in his short life. He was skittish around people initially but is becoming a friendly little boy. His medical issues are now resolved and he has handled the transition into his forever home wonderfully. Derby's new family is looking forward to working on some basic obedience commands that he hasn't had an opportunity to learn yet. Derby adores playing with his new big brother, who also happens to be an SPDR Boston Terrier rescue dog! Derby's new family says that this cuddly little fellow is a keeper! ![]() SAMPSON - what a guy! The previous owners of this 2 year old said Sam was a biter and their solution was to keep him in a room all by himself for a few months, before giving him to us. We kept this great gift whose sole purpose in life is to sing to us and chase squirrels (not necessarily in that order). Sam has a cleft lip and palate and had to have surgery for ingrown eyelashes. The rules may preclude adopting out a dog that bites but nothing prohibited us from keeping him, so we did, about 3 years ago.
![]() SIMON was picked up as a stray and had contracted PARVO. The Puyallup shelter turned him over to the East Main Animal Hospital in Puyallup who cured him, neutered and gave him his shots. (They never charged a cent.) Simon is an active 9 month old (one of the youngest we've had) whom we placed in a loving home with a couple who showers him with love.
![]() SEBASTIAN came to rescue at one and a half years of age. He came from a family who raised him from a puppy. Sebastian’s master was leaving for college and her family was unable to care for him. Sebastian’s favorite things to do are running, taking the stuffing and squeakers out of his toys, playing tug-a-war, and sleeping in the sunshine. Then . . . there’s riding in the car, going for walks, and sleeping under the covers. Sebastian is now three and a half years old. He has graduated from obedience class and has his Canine Good Citizen Certificate.. He is the perfect dog to be in a rescuer’s home. He seems to get along with everyone We are truly blessed to have Sebastian as apart of our family. ![]() "BEAN", was a 3 ½ year old neutered male who had been severely abused. He did not like cats, other dogs or children. We placed him with a, single, older lady. After 6 months he was doing great. He is now much more secure and has learned to tolerate other dogs, cats and kids.
![]() CLANCY is a one of a kind, special, Boston in that he's nearly perfect in every way that a pet of this breed should be. We received him from a lady who was too ill to take care of him. Clancy was 2 years old and weighed about 12 pounds. When we adopted him out we had no idea that the young lady that was to be his new mom was so enthralled with Clancy that she joined the ranks of the Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue group as a "co-rep" for Boston Terriers.
![]() RILEY was given up by his owners because they had two children and expecting a third. They no longer had time for an active 2 ½ year old male. We placed him with a family with two children who gave him back after ten days because he was "to active". We placed him with two retired brothers who love him and give him lots of attention and exercise.
![]() SUGAR" is a very nice 4 ½ year old female whose owner was moving to a retirement complex and could not take Sugar with her. We adopted her out to a great Mother and Daughter who had given up a Boston two years earlier, due to a divorce and now found a way to fill that vacancy they have been feeling.
![]() SPIKE - a 14 year old male that someone got tired of and gave to the shelter. Spike was our first rescue. He was totally gray, blind and deaf. He learned to navigate around our home and yard within 2 days. When the other dogs sounded their perceived intruder alert or when "dad" came home from work, he seemed to sense the activity and went right along with them (sometimes running into the furniture along the way). Spike lived a happy, loving, life for the next 6 months when he died of congestive heart failure. He didn't die alone and for that we are thankful. A month later he (we like to believe) sent us our Sampson, the only other male dog in our lives.
![]() MATTIE was a beautiful 2-year-old Boston. We had her spayed and given her shots. Unfortunately, at times, she was extremely aggressive towards other dogs and people. Out of the blue she attacked one of our dogs and bit a human to the point that stitches were necessary. After consulting with our vet, who thought that she may have had a brain tumor or came from a situation where she had been very traumatized, we had her euthanized. Though it is sometimes unfortunate, we agree with the Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue rules prohibiting adopting animals that have a history of biting (but she was sure a beauty).
![]() MYSTY - The previous owner turned her in because of a lifestyle change. She was 4 years old and weighed about 25 pounds. She had not been spayed nor had she had her shots. Mysty was very fearful of everything; when you reached for her she'd roll over on her back and urinated, involuntarily. After spaying, having her shots and working with her for a couple of weeks we adopted her out and she now has a wonderful new Mom & Dad.
![]() TINY is what we named her. She is, by far, the smallest Boston we have ever rescued (8 pounds) and the vet said she was 11 ½ years old. She came to us from the Puyallup Shelter. She had been picked up on the streets of Sumner. She was absolutely filthy; her nails were so long they were curving under the pads of her feet. It is extremely difficult to find an adopter for a dog this old but we did find an elderly women that wanted a lap dog. A happy ending!
![]() ZOE was from a loving mom in Seattle who was ill and no longer able to care for Zoe. One of the sweetest Boston's to pass through our lives; she is mostly white and about 14 pounds. We kept her for a few days longer than usual because the family we picked out was on vacation. The whole family (about ten of them) arrived at our home to look at Zoë. It was love at first site and Zoe has now gone from a one-person home to multiple people and is doing just great.
![]() JAKE was lost on the streets of Seattle for weeks. He was rescued by a nice lady the first time and by animal control the second time. BTRWW was then called to help in Jake's placement. Working through Seattle Purebred Dog Rescue, we were lucky enough to find a family who had recently lost their rescued Boston Terrier. The family was hoping to rescue another Boston Terrier. This match was meant to be. Jake is now living with his forever family in Bellingham, WA.
![]() BUSTER has found a loving home in Marysville and now has a Boston sister.
