Roman - August 2023 - 13 old male from Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue

Poor senior Roman was found recently in the streets of Detroit, MI and was brought into the care of MWBTR and a fabulous foster home. We rushed him to the vet. He had a big wound on his chest close to his heart that looked like he may have been stabbed. He also has very severe dental disease on top of being close to deaf. We are estimating his age to be 13-14 years old, and he is heartworm positive.

Roman is doing better. The vet removed the necrotic tissue put in drain tubes. His anal glands were impacted, and they found millions of HW EGGS, many mature worms as well. We are doing the slow kill which is doxycycline and heart guard because he may not survive the harsh heartworm treatment. We are getting an x-ray in a few weeks to see how it is working. They also think he may have testicular cancer. Roman is a forever Foster with Midwest BTR.

October Update - Sweet Roman battled with all his might to overcome all of his health issues, but he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in Oct. He knew love and comfort in his final months.

MeeHo stayed at the et hospital for 1.5 weeks to ensure that the salivary glands were working properly. His third surgery was to remove the stretched skin under his neck.
